Catechesis (pronounced “katəˈkēsis”). Instruction. Intentional-teaching-in-foundational-areas-for-formation. Call it what you want, but don’t neglect it. The Bible certainly doesn’t – teaching is a key ingredient of formation in both Old and New Testaments. And church history emphasized this priority as well – there is evidence from the earliest days of the fledgling church that a formal program of instruction, training, or catechesis was in place.
Whatever you want to call it, this sort of catechesis, instruction, or training is what we’re about. And if there are ways we can be serving you in this area, we’d love to find a way to help.
Maybe this means simply encouraging you as a fellow advocate of this priority. Or maybe we can help you more formally – either in consulting with your church, training ministry leaders, and/or teaching Brookside Institute classes in your ministry environment. And remember, whatever you call it – whether catechesis, instruction, equipping, etc. – don’t neglect the priority.
